Open Question: Indian Hinduism buddhism why are you letting people cripple your history?
I'm historian and a history teacher at the Oxford university in England, my students sent me some homework to mark while I was in hospital with a broken leg but when looking through the information on the history of meditation I saw that it was totally wrong and almost fabricated, I rang the the substitute teacher to ask where was this information taken from and low and be old the children said Wikipedia, I then took a look at this page on meditation and I was SHOCKED to see that a Christian had written that Christianity was the earliest scripture of meditation!!
Whoever wrote that page tried so hard to take all the credit away from Hinduism and India and tried to instead highlight a very false Christian mediation, which I found very amusing indeed :)
The fact of the matter is that mediation and philosophy of all Asian spiritual cultures came from the vedic Santan Dharma scriptures of "Bhartiya scriptures", i use the term Vedic to point of the peroid of when the writen vedas are created and also use the term "Sanatan Dharma" which Sanskrit phrase meaning "the eternal law".
I find this to be a new low for Christianity and i would like to tell all indians if you wish for your history to be correct you will find the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meditation
I would love a christian to explain to me why it states in that Wikipedia page that the "earliest references to meditation are found in the Bible, dating around 1400 BCE" and then it states after "and in the Hindu Vedas from around the 15th century BCE"
The scriptures of the vedas was complied in the 2nd to mid 1st millennium BC! it's at least past 15,000 years old in its oral form, so that pre-dates the bible the old testament and even the Hebrew writing system.
why don't you hindus go onto the wiki page and claim it instead of letting uneducated christian European try to strip it away from you?
